Sharing Books for the Community

I urge you to get out in your communities. LOVE people. HELP people. PRAY with people. Share HOPE.
We did this just recently. We met so many hurting people who needed an encouraging word and a prayer.

"Christ’s method alone will give true success in reaching the people. The Savior mingled with people as one who desired their good. He showed sympathy for them, ministered to their needs, and won their confidence. Then He invited them, “Follow Me.”
We need to come close to the people by personal effort. If we would give less time to sermonizing and more time to personal ministry, greater results would be seen. The poor are to be relieved, the sick cared for, the sorrowing and the bereaved comforted, the ignorant instructed, the inexperienced counseled. We are to weep with those who weep and to rejoice with those who rejoice. Accompanied by the power of persuasion, the power of prayer, the power of the love of God, this work will not, cannot, be without fruit." (Ministry of Healing 73)

It was really simple.  We knocked on the door. We said something like, "Hi. My name is Amy and this is David.  We're from a local church and we're sharing hope and happiness with our community.  (Sometimes we added "that seems to be in short supply these days!) This is a small gift for you.  We hope that it encourages you.  We're also praying with people tonight.  Do you have an special requests that you'd like us to pray for?"

This particular time that we went out, we only spent about 50 minutes, but found more hurting, lonely, discouraged people than we have in 2 hours before. People need Jesus. People need hope. People need a friend and  prayer. Be there for them!!!
