Celebrate
make a post with some ideas. Kindness should be spread far and wide, and love does not always have to be about romance, so this week as you think about these two fun days, think about how you can share love and kindness with those in close proximity to you: your neighbors!
If you aren't sure where to start, consider these ideas:
- If you can bake, make and deliver some delicious cookies, brownies, or cupcakes to their door.
- Take someone out for lunch or dessert - your treat!
- Visit an elderly neighbor and provide them with some much needed companionship.
- Put a friendly note, GLOW tract pack, and treat in your mailbox for the mail carrier.
- Offer to babysit for free!
- Clean up their yard - rake leaves, weed their garden, water plants, paint their fence, mow their lawn, shovel and salt their sidewalks and driveway.
- If you're handy around the house, see if they have any small home improvement projects you can do for them.
- If their car is dirty, offer to wash it for them or even take it to a car wash. Vacuum it out too! This is especially nice if you live in a snowy place where cares are often covered in road salt.
- You can also scrape snow and ice off their car windshields so they can get to work on time.
- Take an animal gift to the animal shelter.
- Buy a grocery card for someone you know who needs a little help.
- If your neighbor is overwhelmed, offer to take some of the burden by running errands like up groceries or dry-cleaning.
- If you're musical, bring your talents door to door. Or call someone up and play or sing music for them.
- Give someone a compliment or just express your appreciation for all they do.
- Pick up trash from neighborhood yards, streets, parks and nature trails.
- Give a call or shoot a text to someone you haven't spoken to in a while.
- Take the time to listen to someone. Whether they are troubled or delighted about something in life, people appreciate being sincerely heard or understood.
- Bring your neighbors trash cans off the street before they blow away.
- If your neighbors have pets, buy a box of treats to bring for them...or bake some.
- Walk their dog.
- Give away flowers. You can attach a little greeting/GLOW tract.
- Take a dinner to a family who is struggling, dealing with health issues, has a new baby,e tc.
The list could go on and on. There are countless ways to show everyone in your life that they are appreciated and loved. Go out and spread some love this week!
